Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The biggest surprise took place in Tochigi where host Tochigi Brex (25-7) edged league's leader Sapporo (24-8) 108-106 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Tochigi Brex looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn State) who scored 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Tongan-New Zealand Isaac Fotu (203-1993, college: Hawaii) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Kevin Jones (203-1989, college: WVU) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for the guests. Sapporo's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Nagoya DD. Hokkaido L. at the other side dropped to the second place with eight games lost. They share the position with Chiba Jets. They were replaced at the leadership position by Nagasaki. Hokkaido L. will play next round against Gunma CT trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tochigi Brex will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Chiba Jets on the road.
Top ranked Velca (28-4) recorded its fourth loss in Hamamatsu. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked NeoPhoenix (14-18) 95-87. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Velca. American forward Yante Maten (201-1996, college: Georgia) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Ryusei Sasaki contributed with 25 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. South Korean swingman Hyunjung Lee (201-2000, college: Davidson) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for Nagasaki. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San-en NP moved-up to eighth place. Nagasaki at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. San-en NP will play against Chiba (#11) on the road in the next round. Nagasaki will play against Sea Horses M. (#4) in Kariya and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Rest of the games of round 32 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Kawasaki was crushed by Akita NH in a road game 97-77. Chiba was beaten by Saga B. at home 73-79. Sea Horses M. lost to Nagoya DD on the opponent's court 62-77. Gunma CT managed to outperform Shiga L-Stars in a home game 92-76. Koshigaya A. managed to beat Ibaraki R. on the road 88-81. Kyoto H. defeated Yokohama BC on its own court 82-71. Hiroshima D. beat FE Nagoya in a road game 77-74. Osaka E. lost to Alvark Tokyo at home 88-105. Sendai 89ers managed to outperform Shimane SM on the opponent's court 83-78. Toyama G. recorded a loss to Sunrockers Sh. in a home game 79-89.



Akita NH - Kawasaki BT 97-77

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Akita where 12th ranked Brave Thunders (8-24) were crushed by thirteenth ranked Happinets (6-26) 97-77 on Sunday. Akita NH made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian power forward Keanu Pinder (210-1995, college: Arizona) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Takuya Nakayama (182-1994) who added 16 points during the contest. Hungarian-American Rosco Allen (208-1993, college: Stanford, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian center Dusan Ristic (213-1995, college: Arizona) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Akita NH maintains thirteenth position with 6-26 record. Loser Brave Thunders keeps the twelfth place with 24 games lost. Akita NH will meet at home higher ranked Alvark Tokyo (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Strangely Chiba outrebounded Saga B. 40-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. Four Ballooners players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex - Hokkaido L. 108-106

The biggest surprise took place in Tochigi where host Tochigi Brex (25-7) edged league's leader Sapporo (24-8) 108-106 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Tochigi Brex looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn State) who scored 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Tongan-New Zealand Isaac Fotu (203-1993, college: Hawaii) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Kevin Jones (203-1989, college: WVU) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and Nigerian-American center Jahlil Okafor (211-1995, college: Duke) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sapporo's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Nagoya DD. Hokkaido L. at the other side dropped to the second place with eight games lost. They share the position with Chiba Jets. They were replaced at the leadership position by Nagasaki. Hokkaido L. will play next round against Gunma CT trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tochigi Brex will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Chiba Jets on the road.
