American Guard Jarrett Culver (198-G-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for Sendai 89ers, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 31.
The 26-year old player was the main contributor (40 points, six rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Shimane SM (#7, 17-15) 82-76. 89ers maintains the 6th position in their group in the Japanese B1 League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Sendai 89ers will need more victories to improve their 19-13 record. In the team's last game Culver had a remarkable 70.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be 89ers' top player in his first season with the team. Former Texas Tech University star has very solid stats this year. Culver is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.5ppg. Culver is in league's top in and averages impressive 55.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Syrian Trey Kell III (193-G-1996, agency: Slash Sports) of Toyama Grouses. Kell III had a very good evening with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Grouses was edged by the higher-ranked Sunrockers Sh. (#7, 13-19) 78-75. This loss caused Toyama G. to drop to 13th position in East. 23 lost games are too many comparing to just nine victories Grouses managed to get this year. Kell III is a newcomer at Toyama G., but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.8ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 6.5rpg and 3.6apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-PF-1994) of Alvark Tokyo (#4). Saiz scored 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He was a key player of Alvark, leading his team to a 91-76 easy win against the lower-ranked Osaka E. (#9, 13-19). Alvark Tokyo needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in East. Their record at this point is 21 victories and 11 lost games. Saiz has a very solid season. In 31 games in Japan he scored 17.7ppg. He also has 7.5rpg and a FGP of 59.6%.
