American Guard Tray Boyd III (193-G-1998) had a great game in the last round for Yokohama Excellence, receiving a Hoops Agents B2 League Player of the Week award for round 29.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (39 points, five rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Aomori W. (#7, 5-25) with 37-point margin 100-63. Excellence maintains the 3rd position in their group in the Japanese B2 League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Yokohama will need more victories to improve their 21-8 record. In the team's last game Boyd III had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. It's his second year at Excellence and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Former East Tennessee State University star has very solid stats this year. Boyd III is league's best scorer averaging so far 27.3ppg. Boyd III is in league's top in assists (8th best: 4.4apg) and averages impressive 51.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Mitchell Watt (208-C-1989, agency: Octagon Europe) of league's second-best Ehime Orange Vikings. Watt had a very good evening with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course Orange Vikings cruised to a 87-76 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Kobe S. (#1, 27-3). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in West. Ehime consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 20-10 record is not bad at all. Watt is a newcomer at Ehime, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Mitch Lightfoot (203-F-1997, agency: Slash Sports) of Kumamoto Volters (#4). Lightfoot scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Volters, leading his team to a 84-73 win against slightly lower-ranked Iwate (#5, 8-22). The chances of Kumamoto V. ranking at the top of East, however are very questionable as they have already lost 17 games, recording just thirteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Lightfoot could help Kumamoto V. to bring them higher in the standings. Lightfoot has a great season in Japan. After 30 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.8ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 10.3rpg (5th best). He also has 1.2bpg and a FGP of 62.2%.
