B3 League Round 2 (Regular Season): Kagawa keep a leadership position

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in B3 League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Five Arrows defeated Albirex in Takamatsu 78-62. Kagawa outrebounded Niigata A. 43-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Jacob Lampkin (206-1996, college: Alaska-Anch.) had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Alex Davis (206-1992, college: Fresno St., agency: Diamond Sports) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-1990, college: LBSU) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Albirex will play next round against Tokushima Gam. trying to get back on the winning streak. Five Arrows will try to continue on its current victory against Tokyo Utd on the road.
Swoops recorded a loss in Kanagawa. Visitors were defeated by United 83-71. American center Jacob Polakovich (208-2000, college: S.Indiana) notched 30 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and Earnest Ross supported him with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Blake Preston (206-2000, college: Northwestern) did not help to save the game for Gifu. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. United will play against Tokyo Z on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Swoops will play against Shinagawa to get more than just one victory in their record.
Shinagawa was outscored at home by Dice with the biggest margin this round 95-74 on Sunday night. The best player for the winners was Rokas Gustys who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Victor Hart produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dice will meet at home Tokyo in the next round where they are favorite. Shinagawa will play against Gifu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 2: Kanazawa lost to Saitama on the opponent's court 80-91. Yamaguchi lost to Okayama in a home game 62-81. Veertien Mie lost to Tokushima Gam. on the road 77-83.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 17 points and 8 rebounds by Mutombo Jean-Pierre of Niigata A..




Saitama - Kanazawa 91-80

Very expected game in Saitama where Samuraiz was defeated by Broncos 91-80 on Sunday. Saitama made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American Devin Oliver (203-1992, college: Dayton) who scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward TJ Nesmith (206-2001, college: Radford) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. New Zealand forward Hyrum Harris (204-1996, college: Umpqua CC) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and Dutch Jediael Cordilia (200-2002) added 22 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Four Kanazawa players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Broncos will meet Okayama on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Samuraiz will play against Yamaguchi and hope to win that game.

Shinagawa was outscored at home by Dice with the biggest margin this round 95-74 on Sunday night. Tachikawa dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 30 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Tachikawa looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian power forward Rokas Gustys (206-1994, college: Hofstra) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-1990, college: Oklahoma, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 24 points and 8 rebounds. Five Dice players scored in double figures. Very predictable result in Yamaguchi where Try Hoop smashed Pats Five 81-62 on Sunday. Okayama looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Try Hoop will meet at home Saitama in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Not a big story in a game in Tokushima where Veertien Mie was defeated by Gambarous 83-77 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Tokushima Gam. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Tavrion Dawson (202-1996, college: CSUN, agency: One Motive Sports) who scored 33 points (!!!). Canadian center Chris McLaughlin (208-1992, college: Victoria) chipped in 18 points. American power forward Damonte Dodd (211-1994, college: Maryland) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and German center Yasin Kolo (208-1992, college: Bellarmine) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Gambarous will meet Niigata A. on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Veertien Mie will have a break next round.
