WJBL Round 2 (Regular Season): Chanson V-M defeat Eneos S.

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in WJBL. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Eneos S. in Shizuoka on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Chanson V-M 68-55. Chanson V-M dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Eneos S.'s 30. The former international center Izoje Uche (188-2004) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. The former international Yurika Sato (176-1998) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international Saori Miyazaki (167-1995) replied with 9 points and 7 rebounds for Eneos S.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chanson V-M are looking forward to face Hitachi Cougars in Hitachinaka in the next round. Eneos S. will have a break next round.

Center Okoe Mominoka (182-1999) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Saori Miyazaki chipped in 9 points and 14 assists during the contest. The former international center Izoje Uche (188-2004) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Eneos S. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chanson V-M will play at home against Hitachi Cougars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of Toyota BSR against Aishin AW on Saturday night. Visiting Toyota BSR was defeated by Aishin AW in Anjo 77-60. Ramu Tokashiki notched 9 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by Nanami Tsuno did not help to save the game for Toyota BSR. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin AW will meet at home Fujitsu RW in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyota BSR will play against Toyota A. in Nagoya and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: Denso I. beat Hitachi Cougars on the road 68-64. Fujitsu RW won against Toyota A. on its own court 62-51. Denso I. outscored Hitachi Cougars in Kariya 76-50. Aishin AW managed to beat Toyota BSR at home 83-79. Winless Toyota A. lost to undefeated Fujitsu RW on the opponent's court 49-63.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists by Rui Machida of Fujitsu RW.

Hitachi Cougars - Denso I. 64-68

No shocking result in a game when Denso I. beat Hitachi Cougars in Hitachinaka 68-64 on Saturday. Denso I. forced 19 Hitachi Cougars turnovers. The former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-1995) notched 11 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Akaho Himawari (185-1998) supported her with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) by forward Ririka Okuyama (180-2000) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Cougars. Senegalese center Daramee Malem-Doi (187-1997) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Four Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. Even 10 points and 4 assists by the former international point guard Shiori Yasuma (161-1994) did not help to save the game for Toyota A.. Very predictable result when Denso I. rolled over Hitachi Cougars in Hitachinaka 76-50 on Sunday. Denso I. forced 19 Hitachi Cougars turnovers. The former international center Maki Takada (185-1989) notched 21 points to lead the effort and the former international Akaho Himawari (185-1998) supported her with 8 points and 6 rebounds. We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Toyota BSR lost to Aishin AW in Anjo 79-83 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Aishin AW especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-1991) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international Sakura Noguchi (181-2001) supported her with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds by center Jessica Wariebimo (188-2005) did not help to save the game for Toyota BSR. International Nanako Todo (175-2000) added 15 points and 4 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toyota BSR's coach Lucas Mondelo tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help.
