The Regular Season in B3 League just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Excellence in Kanagawa on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Shanan Utd 70-64. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shanan Utd made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Michael Hughes (203-1998, college: Duquesne) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Tomohiro Ishii (185-1999) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American forward Logan Routt (211-1997, college: WVU, agency: Diamond Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds for Yokohama. Excellence's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shanan Utd will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Excellence will play at home against Gifu and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

Very important is a road loss of Niigata A. against Broncos on Saturday night. Visiting Niigata A. was defeated by Broncos in Saitama 97-79. Milko Bjelica nailed 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Evan Ravenel came up with 23 points and 7 rebounds for Niigata A. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Broncos will meet Kagawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niigata A. will play against Tokyo and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the just one year after relegation.

Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Niigata A. beat Saitama on the road 88-76. Winless Tokyo lost to undefeated Kagawa on its own court 69-89. Yamaguchi unfortunately lost to Tachikawa in a road game 83-90. Winless Tokyo lost to undefeated Kagawa at home 69-79. Iwate crushed Kanazawa on the opponent's court 102-61. Gifu beat Okayama in a home game 99-81. Winless Tokyo Z lost to undefeated Tokushima Gam. on the road 77-89. Tachikawa unfortunately lost to Yamaguchi on its own court 68-84. Iwate rolled over Kanazawa in a road game 70-48. Gifu was defeated by Okayama at home 69-85. Winless Tokyo Z lost to undefeated Tokushima Gam. on the opponent's court 68-78. Shinagawa lost to Veertien Mie in a home game 71-80. Veertien Mie was outscored by Shinagawa on the road 62-83.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 23 points by Hiroki Higashi of Shinagawa.

There was a surprise result when Shinagawa crushed at home Veertien Mie 83-62 on Monday. Shinagawa looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Point guard Hiroki Higashi (184-1995) nailed 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American swingman Michael Craig (196-1991, college: Southern Miss) accounted for 7 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Abu Philip (198-1997) came up with 21 points and 8 rebounds and New Zealand center Callum McRae (216-1999, college: Sacramento St.) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Veertien Mie in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shinagawa will meet Iwate on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Veertien Mie will play against Tachikawa and hope to win that game.
