Jelan-Miguel Kendrick
Experienced American Jelan-Miguel Kendrick (201-G/F-1991, agency: Interperformances) put on an amazing game in the last round for Yamaguch Pats Five and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents B3 League Player of the Week award for round 27. The 32-year old swingman had a double-double of 32 points and 15 rebounds, while his team lost the game against Gifu (#11, 11-17) 77-83. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Pats Five maintains the 13th position in Japanese B3 League. Yamaguchi is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 18th lost game this season out of 28 games. In the team's last game Kendrick had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Pats Five's top player in his first season with the team. Jelan-Miguel Kendrick averages this season 18.0ppg and 7.8rpg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Latvian center Klavs Cavars (208-C-1996) of Yokohama Excellence. Cavars impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he led Excellence to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Shinagawa (#17, 7-21) 90-63. Yokohama's 4th position in the standings has not changed. His team's 19-9 record is not bad at all. Cavars is a newcomer at Yokohama and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was American Baylee Steele (213-C-1997, agency: One Motive Sports) of Gifu Swoops (#11). Steele scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Swoops, leading his team to a 83-77 win against slightly lower-ranked Yamaguchi (#13, 10-18). The chances of Gifu not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 17 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Steele could try to bring Gifu's a little bit higher in the standings. Steele has individually a great season in Japan. After 26 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.3rpg (2nd best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Benjamin Lawson (216-F-1995) of Fukui B. - 13 points and 9 rebounds 5. Taane Samuel (200-F-1999) of Okayama - 29 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists 6. The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
