WJBL Round 13 (Regular Season): Top-ranked Toyota A. wins another game

WJBL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 13 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

WJBL top team - Toyota A. (12-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Hitachi Cougars (5-7) in Nagoya 84-75. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hitachi Cougars. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Kadysha Umezawa (190-1998) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Mai Yamamoto (163-1999) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Honoka Morioka (172-2004) answered with 14 points and 8 assists for Hitachi Cougars. Hitachi Cougars' coach Tomohide Utsumi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Toyota A. have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-0 record. Hitachi Cougars at the other side keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Toyota A. are again looking forward to face Hitachi Cougars (#8) in Hitachinaka in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round.
The game in Anjo supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Denso I. (11-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Aishin AW (6-6). Denso I. smashed Aishin AW 72-48. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Aishin AW. The former international Akaho Himawari (185-1998) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Maki Takada chipped in 6 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side June Mineharu (171-1999) responded with 18 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Denso I.. They maintain second place with 11-1 record behind leader Toyota A. Aishin AW at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Denso I. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aishin AW will play again at home against the league's second-placed Denso I. (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game between 9th ranked Aranmare (3-9) and fifth ranked Chanson V-M (9-3) in Akita on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Shizuoka outscored Aranmare A. 89-43. Mai Yoshida nailed 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Chihiro Sato came up with 8 points for Aranmare in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Chanson V-M. They maintain fifth place with 9-3 record. Aranmare lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Chanson V-M will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aranmare will play again against Chanson V-M (#5) and hope to secure a win.

Other games in round 13 were not that significant. Himeji E. was smashed by Fujitsu RW on the road 114-78. Bottom-ranked Niigata R. lost to defending champion Eneos S. on its own court 49-86. Toyota BSR managed to outperform Yamanashi QB in Aichi 71-59. Mitsubishi K. managed to beat Haneda V. at home 62-57.

Aishin AW - Denso I. 48-72

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Fujitsu RW (11-2) crushed 12th ranked Himeji E. (2-10) in Kawasaki 114-78 on Saturday. Fujitsu RW shot 63.2 percent from the field. Fujitsu RW had a 27-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Himeji E.'s players. Nigerian center Joshuana von Novon (190-1999) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winning side and the former international guard Saki Hayashi (173-1995) accounted for 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. Point guard Aoi Ishimaki (165-2000) came up with 20 points and 9 assists and point guard Saori Yoshida (158-1984) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Himeji E. in the defeat. Fujitsu RW maintains third place with 11-2 record behind leader Toyota A., which they share with Eneos S. Himeji E. lost their fourth game in a row. They outrebounded Niigata R. 51-37 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-1991) nailed 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and guard Sayaka Okamoto (161-1991) accounted for 14 points. Very predictable result when sixth ranked Toyota BSR (8-5) won against on the road 11th ranked Yamanashi QB (2-10) 71-59 on Saturday. Toyota BSR forced 21 Yamanashi QB turnovers. Strangely Yamanashi QB outrebounded Toyota BSR 52-34 including 24 on the offensive glass. Yuki Kitamura (173-1994) nailed 15 points for the winning side and international Nanako Todo (175-2000) accounted for 14 points. Point guard Inoue Momoko (170-1997) came up with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Indian center Anmolpreet Kaur (185-1999) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Yamanashi QB in the defeat.
