WJBL top team - Toyota A. (12-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Hitachi Cougars (5-7) in Nagoya 84-75. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hitachi Cougars. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Kadysha Umezawa (190-1998) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Mai Yamamoto (163-1999) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Honoka Morioka (172-2004) answered with 14 points and 8 assists for Hitachi Cougars. Hitachi Cougars' coach Tomohide Utsumi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Toyota A. have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-0 record. Hitachi Cougars at the other side keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Toyota A. are again looking forward to face Hitachi Cougars (#8) in Hitachinaka in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round.
The game in Anjo supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Denso I. (11-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Aishin AW (6-6). Denso I. smashed Aishin AW 72-48. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Aishin AW. The former international Akaho Himawari (185-1998) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Maki Takada chipped in 6 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side June Mineharu (171-1999) responded with 18 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Denso I.. They maintain second place with 11-1 record behind leader Toyota A. Aishin AW at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Denso I. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aishin AW will play again at home against the league's second-placed Denso I. (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game between 9th ranked Aranmare (3-9) and fifth ranked Chanson V-M (9-3) in Akita on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Shizuoka outscored Aranmare A. 89-43. Mai Yoshida nailed 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Chihiro Sato came up with 8 points for Aranmare in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Chanson V-M. They maintain fifth place with 9-3 record. Aranmare lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Chanson V-M will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aranmare will play again against Chanson V-M (#5) and hope to secure a win.
