Hitachi SunRockers Tokyo-Shibuya (B1 League) agreed terms with 32-year old Japanese-American international guard Aki Chambers (190cm-85kg-1990, college: UC Merced) for new 2023-24 season. Chambers joins another USA player Luke Sikma who is already in the roster.
It is actually his comeback to Tokyo as he has played here before. He has played for the last two seasons at Gunma Crane Thunders in the B1 League. In 58 games he had 7.9ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.2apg and 1.3spg last season. Chambers has been regularly called to Japanese Senior National Team since 2021.
He has spent his entire career in Japan playing for three other teams: San-en NeoPhoenix, Chiba Jets and Yokohama B-Corsairs. His team won Japanese B League East Division Regular Season in 2018 and 2019.
Chambers graduated from University of California, Merced in 2013 and it will be his eleventh (!!!) season as a professional player.
