B2 League Round 2: Fukushima lose to Saga B.

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Fukushima at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by Saga B. 74-54. Saga B. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 28. They outrebounded Fukushima 40-24 including 30 on the defensive glass. Canadian forward Mikyle McIntosh (201-1994, college: Oregon) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American Chase Fieler (202-1992, college: FGCU) chipped in 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-1990, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Saga B. is looking forward to face Bambitious N. in Nara in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fukushima will play at home against Aomori W. and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Kumamoto. Kumamoto V. saved a 3-point victory at home edging Nagasaki 84-81 in the game for the first place. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-1987, college: Georgia) notched 28 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and Benjamin Lawson supported him with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds by American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) did not help to save the game for Nagasaki. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Kumamoto V. will play against Nishinomiya S. in Hyogo in the next round. Nagasaki will play at home against Kagawa FA to get more than just one victory in their record.
Very important is a road loss of Nishinomiya S. against Koshigaya A. on Sunday night. Visiting Nishinomiya S. was defeated by Koshigaya A. in Tokyo 72-55. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was Brekkott Chapman who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Koshigaya A.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Trey Porter produced 10 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Koshigaya A.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Tokyo Z.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 2: Chiba won against Aomori W. on the opponent's court 77-60. Bambitious N. unfortunately lost to Fukuoka R. in a home game 73-77. Yamagata managed to beat Tokyo Z on the road 87-69.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 28 points and 11 rebounds by Elijah Thomas of Tokyo Z.



Fukushima - Saga B. 54-74

Very expected game when Aomori W. was defeated at home by Chiba 77-60 on Sunday. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Aomori W.'s players. The best player for the winners was American Brandon Ashley (206-1994, college: Arizona) who scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Leo Lyons (206-1987, college: Missouri) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Chiba players scored in double figures. American power forward EJ Montgomery (208-1999, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Junki Nozato (180-1994) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba will meet Yamagata on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aomori W. will play against Fukushima and hope to win that game.

There was a surprise result in Nara where Fukuoka R. defeated Bambitious N. 77-73 on Sunday. They outrebounded Bambitious N. 37-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Jordan Glynn (200-1989, college: SF Austin) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Yuto Otsuka (188-1990) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Fukuoka R. players scored in double figures. American-Portuguese Jeremiah Wilson (205-1988, college: Tarleton St.) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Naoki Uto (188-1991) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Bambitious N.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fukuoka R. will meet at home Ehime OV in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bambitious N. will play against Saga B. and hope to win that game.

Important game to mention about took place in Kumamoto. Kumamoto V. saved a 3-point victory at home edging Nagasaki 84-81 in the game for the first place. Kumamoto V. made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game, while Nagasaki only scored six points from the stripe. Kumamoto V. brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Nagasaki was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch.
