Pass lab Yamagata Wyverns (B2 League) added to their roster 33-year old Dominican-Spanish small forward Orlando Sanchez (206cm-105kg-88, college: St.John's) for new 2021-22 season. Sanchez played last summer at San Lazaro in TBS league in Dominican Republic. In 10 games he recorded 6.7ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.4apg and 1.0spg. He helped them to make it to the Dominican Rep. TBS League final after they ended regular season as second best team. Quite impressive year as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Dominican Rep. TBS Honorable Mention. The last season he played at Aomori Watts in Japanese B2 League where in 32 games he averaged 12.0ppg, 7.6rpg, 3.6apg, 1.1spg and 1.6bpg.
Sanchez represented Dominican Republic at the World Cup in Spain seven years ago. His team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 6 games: 2.2ppg, 2.5rpg.
He is quite experienced player. Sanchez's career allowed him to visit four different continents, while he played in eight different countries. Sanchez tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in France (STB Le Havre), Italy, Lebanon (Atlas), Venezuela (Bucaneros), Puerto Rico (Cangrejeros), Japan (Shinshu Brave Warriors Nagano) and NBA G League (Westchester Knicks).
Sanchez won Dominican Republic LNB championship title in 2015.
He attended St. John's University until 2014 and it will be his eighth season as a professional player.
On Sanchez: Orlando is a complete package-type player. Sanchez has good size, can run the floor, can rebound and play defense, and is a game-changing shot-blocker. He can also step out and shoot the three.
