B3 League Round 9: Toyoda Gosei is defeated by Okayama

There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Toyoda Gosei (13-3) on the court of third ranked Okayama on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Okayama 106-91. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Toyoda Gosei. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Toyoda Gosei 45-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: FAU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Nigerian forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum (206-91) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Okayama's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American center CJ Gettys (213-94, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 20 rebounds. Okayama (13-5) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Toyoda Gosei at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Okayama will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyoda Gosei will play on the road against Tokyo EX and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Aichi. Fifth ranked Shizuoka (10-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Aisin AW (11-5) 88-86 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Aisin AW. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and Novar Gadson accounted for 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) came up with 19 points and 7 rebounds for Aisin AW in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Shizuoka. Despite that victory Shizuoka went down to sixth position due to points difference. Aisin AW at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Shizuoka will play against higher ranked Iwate (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aisin AW will play against Kagoshima and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 9: Tokyo HT won against Kanazawa on the opponent's court 96-92. Kagoshima was outscored by Tokyo EX in a home game 68-91. Tokyo HT managed to beat Kanazawa on the road 81-72. Kagoshima was crushed by Tokyo EX on its own court 77-99. Shizuoka was beaten by Aisin AW in Aichi 105-99.



Kanazawa - Tokyo HT 92-96

There was a minor upset in Ishikawa where 8th ranked Kanazawa (5-11) was defeated by tenth ranked Tokyo HT (3-9) 96-92 on Friday. Tokyo HT had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Tokyo HT especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Thailand power forward Jalen Robinson (206-93, college: Dalton St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Hiroya Ogane (180-89) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) with 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and point guard Daichi Tomioka (165-95) scored 24 points and 8 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Tokyo HT moved-up to ninth place. Kanazawa lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Tokyo HT will face bottom-ranked Saitama (#11) on the road in the next round.
