B3 League Round 3: No surprise as #1 Iwate defeat Aisin AW

After 3 rounds played we can already see who rules in the B3 League and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Iwate (5-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat Aisin AW (2-2) 79-75. 24 personal fouls committed by Aisin AW helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for naturalized American point guard Ryuji Aoki (183-98, college: Rose-Hulman) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) helped adding 11 points and 15 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Iwate is looking forward to face Saitama (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aisin AW will play against Okayama (#2) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

It was a quality performance for American forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: OK State) who led the winners and scored 23 points. Kodai Takahashi accounted for 18 points and 8 assists. American Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) came up with 25 points and 5 rebounds for Aisin AW in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iwate will play against Saitama (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aisin AW will play against Okayama (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Shizuoka supposed to be also quite interesting. Okayama (5-1) played at the court of Shizuoka (3-3). Okayama smashed Shizuoka 94-68 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Chris Washburn who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Muusa Dama who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okayama will meet Aisin AW (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Shizuoka will play against Tokyo HT and hope to secure a win.
The game in Ishikawa supposed to be also worth to mention about. Toyoda Gosei (5-1) played at the court of Kanazawa (2-2). Toyoda Gosei smashed Kanazawa 120-53. It was a good game for CJ Gettys who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyoda Gosei's next round opponent will be Kagoshima (#11) in Renova and are hoping to win another game. Kanazawa will play on the road against Gifu (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 3: Gifu destroyed Kagoshima on the opponent's court 76-57. Winless Kagoshima unfortunately lost to Gifu in a home game 61-75. Toyoda Gosei rolled over Kanazawa on the road 113-87. Tokyo EX defeated Saitama on its own court 85-72.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals by Michael Craig of Tokyo EX.



Kagoshima - Gifu 57-76

Very expected game in Renova where Kagoshima (0-6) was crushed by Gifu (4-2) 76-57 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Canadian forward Mamadou Gueye (201-93, college: Alberta) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Alex Floresca (203-96, college: San Diego) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Gifu players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was DR Congolese forward Kiekie Ali (200-3) with 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Senegalese center Diop Cheikh (210-97) scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gifu will face Kanazawa (#7) in Ishikawa in the next round. Kagoshima will play on the road against Toyoda Gosei (#3) in Aichi and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Kanazawa - Toyoda Gosei 53-120

The game in Ishikawa supposed to be also worth to mention about. Toyoda Gosei (5-1) played at the court of Kanazawa (2-2). Toyoda Gosei smashed Kanazawa 120-53. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 100 of its points in the paint compared to Kanazawa's 28. They outrebounded Kanazawa 54-20 including a 43-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyoda Gosei players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Kanazawa's players. It was a good game for American center CJ Gettys (213-94, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners.
