Link Tochigi Brex Utsunomiya (B1 League) tabbed experienced 40-year old American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-110kg-80, college: Otterbein). It is actually his comeback to Tochigi as he has played here before. Gibbs played in the summer at Carmen's Crew (The Basketball Tournament) in the U.S. The last season he played at Link Tochigi Brex Utsunomiya (Japanese B1 League) where in 31 games he averaged 11.8ppg, 8.2rpg, 3.1apg and 1.2spg. Gibbs helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in B League East Division.
He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball Gibbs experienced life in four different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Asian and of course North American leagues. Gibbs has played previously professionally in Germany (ratiopharm Ulm, Eisbaeren Bremerhaven and Ehingen/Urspringschule), NBA G League (Sioux Falls Skyforce), Japan (Toyota Alvark) and The Basketball Tournament (We Are D3).
Among many awards he won The Basketball Tournament championship title in 2019. Gibbs received also Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese B League Honorable Mention award in 2017 and 2019.
It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Link Tochigi Brex Utsunomiya.
Gibbs attended Otterbein College until 2002 and it will be his 19th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into His outlook: An undersized forward who can dominate around the basket. Maybe he's one of the best athletes in the game. He led the 2nd division in Germany in rebounding last year, and his team won the championship. He is something to see.
