Superleague Round 6 (Second Stage): Derby game ends with Chemidor's defeat of Niroo Zamini- January 23, 2022
Superleague is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 6 rounds left. What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Kouchin - Rafsanjan 66-80 An interesting game for Rafsanjan (12-6) which played road game in Amol against one of their biggest challengers Kouchin (8-10). Second ranked Rafsanjan managed to get a 14-point victory 80-66. Rafsanjan maintains second position with 12-6 record behind leader Gorgan, which they share with Sirjan. Kouchin lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest. Exxon SC - Gorgan 51-81 An interesting game for Gorgan (16-2) which played road game in Teheran against 4th ranked Exxon SC (4-14). First ranked Gorgan had an easy win 81-51. Gorgan have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 16-2 record, which they share with Chemidor. Loser Exxon SC keeps the fourth place with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest. Raad - Sirjan 55-85 The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Sirjan's (12-6) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Raad (5-13) in Mashhad 85-55 on Sunday. Sirjan held Raad to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Raad 47-34 including a 39-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sirjan looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Raad's players. Russian guard Anton Ponkrashov (200-86) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and Montenegrin-Serbian forward Nikola Dragovic (206-87, college: UCLA, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Even 15 points by Hossien Makarian did not help to save the game for Raad. Adnan Douraghi added 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Sirjan maintains second position with 12-6 record behind leader Gorgan, which they share with Rafsanjan. Loser Raad keeps the third place with 13 games lost. Niroo Zamini was smashed at home by 25 points 55-80 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Chemidor dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Niroo Zamini's 18. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Niroo Zamini's players. It was a good game for international point guard Mohammadsina Vahedi (185-1) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Salar Monji (203-97, agency: BIG) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Chemidor players scored in double figures. Chemidor's coach Mehran Shahintab felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Pouya Yakhchali (-96) replied with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Reza Sabagh added 14 points in the effort for Niroo Zamini. Chemidor have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-2 record, which they share with Gorgan. Niroo Zamini at the other side still closes the standings with 18 games lost.
