Second Stage Round 6: Raad - Sirjan 55-85

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Sirjan's (12-6) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Raad (5-13) in Mashhad 85-55 on Sunday. Sirjan held Raad to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Raad 47-34 including a 39-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sirjan looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Raad's players. Russian guard Anton Ponkrashov (200-86) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and Montenegrin-Serbian forward Nikola Dragovic (206-87, college: UCLA, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Even 15 points by Hossien Makarian did not help to save the game for Raad. Adnan Douraghi added 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Sirjan maintains second position with 12-6 record behind leader Gorgan, which they share with Rafsanjan. Loser Raad keeps the third place with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
