Superleague Round 15: Rafsanjan defeat Parsa in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 15 in the Superleague took place in Rafsanjan. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Parsa (3-5) to third ranked Rafsanjan (5-2) 84-83 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Parsa. 27 personal fouls committed by Parsa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American point guard Alani Moore II (178-98, college: Temple) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!). Power forward Mohammad Khaleghifard (203-85) helped adding 9 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Navid Khajezadeh (196-96) with 24 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rafsanjan maintains third place with 5-2 record having five points less than leader Chemidor. Parsa at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Exxon SC. Rafsanjan are looking forward to face Sanaye (#8) in Bandar Abbass in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Parsa will play at home against Exxon SC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Elijah Holman (208-89, college: Detroit) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds. Mohammad Hassanzadeh accounted for 23 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Emad Salmani (188-90) came up with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for Foolad in the defeat. Foolad's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mahram maintains second place with 6-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Chemidor. Foolad lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Mahram will play against Raad (#4) in Mashhad in the next round. Foolad's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tehran to the arena Chemidor.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chemidor maintains first place with 7-1 record. Loser Raad keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Chemidor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tehran Foolad.

In the last game of round 15 Sanaye lost to Exxon SC on the opponent's court 63-72.



Foolad - Mahram 94-105

The game between Top Four teams took place in Mashhad. 4th placed host Raad (3-4) was smashed by first ranked Chemidor (7-1) 101-59. Chemidor dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Raad's 30 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Raad 53-19 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Chemidor looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Raad's players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Salar Monji (203-97, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international Amirhossein Azari (193-98) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Hossien Makarian who recorded 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Adnan Douraghi added 12 points respectively. Rather expected game in Teheran where 8th ranked Sanaye (1-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Exxon SC (3-5) 72-63 on Thursday. Exxon SC forced 23 Sanaye turnovers. The best player for the winners was American point guard Corin Henry (185-88, college: Tarleton St., agency: BIG) who scored 27 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Amirhossein Rezaeifar (196-0) chipped in 7 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Ali Jamshidi (196-85) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Ukrainian center Kyrylo Fesenko (215-86, agency: BIG) added 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively. Exxon SC moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Parsa. Sanaye lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Exxon SC will meet Parsa (#5) in the next round. Sanaye will play against Rafsanjan and hope to win that game.
