Regular Season Round 15: Foolad - Mahram 94-105

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tehran: Mahram (#2) and Foolad (#7). Foolad was defeated at home 94-105 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Mahram dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Foolad's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Elijah Holman (208-89, college: Detroit) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) accounted for 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. The former international guard Emad Salmani (188-90) came up with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international point guard Mohammad Bahram (180-98) added 23 points and 4 assists respectively for Foolad in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Foolad's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mahram maintains second place with 6-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Chemidor. Foolad lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with six games lost. Mahram will play against Raad (#4) in Mashhad in the next round. Foolad's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tehran to the arena Chemidor.
