IBL Round 7 (Regular Season): Rajawali still unable to win any game

Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Bottom-ranked Rajawali (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 85-82 loss to seventh ranked Borneo (6-3) in Pontianak on Sunday evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Michael Qualls (197-1994, college: Arkansas) fired a double-double by scoring 32 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. His fellow American import forward Brandon McCoy (213-1998, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Quintin Dove (197-1998, college: UT Martin) produced 31 points and 6 assists for lost side. Rajawali's coach Raoul Hadinoto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Borneo moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Prawira. Rajawali at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Borneo is looking forward to face league's leader Hangtuah in Jakarta in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rajawali will play on the road against Bima Perkasa (#12) in Sakti and hopes to get finally their first victory.

However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Taiwanese power forward Will Artino (211-1992, college: Creighton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Travin Thibodeaux contributed with 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Xavier Cannefax (184-1989, college: WPU, agency: Interperformances) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for Bali Utd.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kesatria BS have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dewa United. Bali Utd. lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Kesatria BS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Jakarta to the arena .

Worth to mention a quality performance of Travin Thibodeaux who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side AJ Bramah responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kesatria BS have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dewa United. Pacific Caesar lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. They share it with Bima Perkasa. Kesatria BS will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pacific Caesar will play against Pelita Jaya (#9) in Jakarta and hope to win that game.

Other games of round 7 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Satya Wacana was defeated by Tangerang in a road game 86-78. Borneo beat Bima Perkasa at home 72-61. Bima Perkasa lost to Simba Bogor on the opponent's court 74-83.



Tangerang - Satya Wacana 86-78

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Satya Wacana (2-8) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Tangerang (5-4) 86-78 on Saturday. Tangerang looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Satya Wacana's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tangerang made 7 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for center Jarred Shaw (211-1990, college: Utah St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Stephaun Branch (196-1995, college: UWG) helped adding 18 points, 5 assists and 7 steals. Four Tangerang players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Marquis Davison (196-2000, college: Columbus St., agency: Worldwide SM) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds and forward KK Curry (201-2000, college: UT Martin) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tangerang moved-up to eighth place. Satya Wacana lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with eight games lost. Tangerang will meet Bima Perkasa (#12) in the next round. Satya Wacana will have a break next round.

No shocking result in a game in Pontianak where seventh ranked Borneo (6-3) defeated 12th ranked Bima Perkasa (1-8) 72-61 on Saturday. Borneo dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Bima Perkasa's 24. Borneo forced 19 Bima Perkasa turnovers and outrebounded them 52-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for guard Michael Qualls (197-1994, college: Arkansas) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Brandon McCoy (213-1998, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) helped adding 13 points, 24 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the losing side center Kierell Green (203-1997, college: Edinboro) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 21 rebounds and guard Keljin Blevins (198-1995, college: Montana St., agency: Diamond Sports) scored 28 points. Very expected game in Gor Merpati where 12th ranked Bima Perkasa (1-8) was defeated by fourth ranked Simba Bogor (7-2) 83-74 on Sunday. Simba Bogor forced 25 Bima Perkasa turnovers. Strangely Bima Perkasa outrebounded Simba Bogor 49-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American forward KJ Buffen (201-2000, college: UAB, agency: Diamond Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 6 steals. American-Mexican forward Aaron Fuller (198-1989, college: USC, agency: Haylett Sports) helped adding 16 points and 11 rebounds.
