IBL Round 4 (Regular Season): Satria Muda keep a leadership position

It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in IBL, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Satria Muda as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Satria Muda defeated 6th ranked Hangtuah in Jakarta 85-72. American LeBryan Nash (198-1992, college: OK State) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The other American import center Wendell Lewis (203-1989, college: Alabama St.) chipped in 13 points. American-Dominican guard Adonys Henriquez (201-1994, college: St.Louis) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Satria Muda (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Hangtuah at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Hangtuah will play next round against Satya Wacana trying to get back on the winning streak. Satria Muda will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Bali Utd. in Denpasar.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Jakarta. Top-ranked Satria Muda faced 4th ranked Borneo. Host Satria Muda (5-0) smashed guests from Pontianak (4-3) 104-67. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Borneo. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Randy Bell (193-1998, college: Dalton St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. LeBryan Nash contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Michael Qualls (197-1994, college: Arkansas) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for Borneo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Satria Muda have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Borneo at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. Satria Muda will play against Bali Utd. (#11) in Denpasar in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Borneo will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Bima Perkasa (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-75 loss to ninth ranked Dewa United (3-3) in Sakti on Saturday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Jordan Adams who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Kierell Green responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dewa United maintains ninth position with 3-3 record. Loser Bima Perkasa still closes the standings with five games lost. Dewa United will meet at home higher ranked Tangerang (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bima Perkasa will play against Pacific Caesar (#12) in Surabaya and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Rest of the games of round 4 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Satya Wacana was defeated by Borneo in Pontianak 79-68. Tangerang beat Pacific Caesar at home 90-82. Simba Bogor destroyed Rajawali on the opponent's court 84-64. Winless Bima Perkasa was outscored by Hangtuah in a home game 59-100. Bali Utd. recorded a loss to Tangerang on the road 74-64. Winless Rajawali was crushed by Prawira on its own court 53-74.
The best stats of 4th round was 15 points, 25 rebounds and 5 assists by Norbertas Giga of Prawira.



Borneo - Satya Wacana 79-68

There was no surprise in Pontianak where 10th ranked Satya Wacana (2-4) was defeated by fourth ranked Borneo (4-3) 79-68 on Thursday. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Michael Qualls (197-1994, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds and forward Brandon McCoy (213-1998, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) who added 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Marquis Davison (196-2000, college: Columbus St., agency: Worldwide SM) responded with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and forward KK Curry (201-2000, college: UT Martin) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Borneo have a solid four-game winning streak. Despite that victory Borneo went down to seventh position due to points difference. Loser Satya Wacana keeps the tenth place with four games lost. Borneo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Satya Wacana will play against Hangtuah (#3) and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Tangerang (4-2) defeated at home 12th ranked Pacific Caesar (1-5) 90-82 on Saturday. Tangerang outrebounded Pacific Caesar 47-36 including 32 on the defensive glass. Tangerang looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Stephaun Branch (196-1995, college: UWG) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import center Jarred Shaw (211-1990, college: Utah St.) who added 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Tangerang players scored in double figures.
