Round 2 (Regular Season): Ryukyu GK is upset by Knights

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in East Asia Super League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most important game in the last round took place in Seoul between Japanese Ryukyu GK and South Korean Knights on Wednesday night. Ryukyu GK was defeated by Knights on the road 82-69. Knights dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Ryukyu GK's 22. They outrebounded Ryukyu GK 41-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Knights especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Leon Williams (203-1986, college: Ohio) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds. Center Sek-Eun Oh (200-1987) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. American power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) produced 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Knights are looking forward to face Kings in Taipei in the next round. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round.
An exciting game was played in Anyang. South Korean Anyang faced Taiwanese Fubon Braves. Host Anyang smashed guests from Taipei 98-77. American power forward Darryl Monroe (202-1986, college: GMU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Du'Vaughn Maxwell contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Chris Johnson (210-1985, college: LSU) replied with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for Fubon Braves. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anyang will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fubon Braves will play at home against TNT Tropang and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

John Mooney had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Quincy Miller-Scott responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chiba Jets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TNT Tropang will play against Fubon Braves in Taipei and it may be a tough game between close rivals.



Anyang - Fubon Braves 98-77

An exciting game was played in Anyang. South Korean Anyang faced Taiwanese Fubon Braves. Host Anyang smashed guests from Taipei 98-77. Anyang outrebounded Fubon Braves 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American power forward Darryl Monroe (202-1986, college: GMU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. American-South Korean forward Du'Vaughn Maxwell (201-1991, college: Hampton) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Anyang players scored in double figures. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chiba Jets made 10 blocks. American forward John Mooney (206-1998, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman DJ Stephens (195-1990, college: Memphis) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest.
