CBA Round 42 (Regular Season): Top-ranked Shanghai wins another game

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

CBA top team - Sharks (33-4) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Rockets (19-18) in Ningbo 119-97. Shanghai shot 63.8 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 64.0 percentage. Shanghai looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American-Qatari Brandon Goodwin (188-1995, college: FGCU) who led his team to a victory with 32 points and 8 assists. International Zhenlin Zhang (206-1999, college: Tulane) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American Frank Jackson (190-1998, college: Duke) replied with 36 points (!!!) and 6 assists for Ningbo R.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sharks have a solid four-game winning streak. Shanghai maintains first position with 33-4 record. Ningbo R. lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 18 games lost. Shanghai are looking forward to face Fujian S. (#17) in Jinjiang in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Ningbo R. will play at home against the league's second-placed Guangsha L. (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
The game in Qingdao was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Guandong Tigers (24-13) played at the court of 8th ranked Eagles (22-15). Guandong Tigers managed to secure a 5-point victory 110-105. American guard Tahjere McCall (193-1994, college: Tennessee St., agency: Slash Sports) scored 43 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Hongze Wang chipped in 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Jordan Mickey (203-1994, college: LSU) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guangdong ST maintains fifth position with 24-13 record. Qingdao E. at the other side keeps the eighth place with 15 games lost. Guangdong ST will play against Jilin NE T. (#12) in Changchun in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao E. will play at home against Liaoning (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 42: Guangzhou was beaten by Beijing D. on the road 103-94. Xinjiang won against Tianjin P. on its own court 106-101. Zhejiang GB. managed to outperform Jiangsu D. in Hangzhou 89-77. Shanxi L. recorded a loss to Shenzhen L. at home 98-103.

Nanjing MK - Beijing RF 101-92

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Royal Fighters (15-22) and Monkey Kings (13-23), which took place in Jiangsu. Higher ranked Royal Fighters lost to seventeenth ranked Monkey Kings in a road game 92-101 on Wednesday. Nanjing made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international swingman Haowen Guo (201-2000) notched 20 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and American point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright (180-1995, college: Arizona) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
