NBL Round 27 (Regular Season): Hebei beat Jiangxi by one after a very close game

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in NBL. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 27 in the NBL took place in Hebei. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Jiangxi (12-12) to seventh ranked Hebei (13-11) 120-119 on Monday evening. Hebei made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Hebei had a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American point guard Jaylen Adams (188-1996, college: St.Bonaventure) who saved his team from a defeat with 37 points (!!!) and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Ukrainian center Vladyslav Koreniuk (210-1994, agency: BIG) contributed with 17 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. American guard Mohamed Kone (188-1998, college: Bemidji St.) answered with 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists for Jiangxi. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hebei moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shandong. Jiangxi at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Jiaozuo. Hebei is looking forward to face league's leader HK JinNiu in Hong Kong in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jiangxi will play at home against Hunan (#3) and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Hefei (20-4) which hosted in Hefei 3rd placed Shanghai (14-10). Second ranked Hefei managed to get a 8-point victory 84-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shanghai. It was a great evening for American forward Brandon McCoy (213-1998, college: UNLV, agency: MSG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Dimitrios Agravanis helped adding 12 points and 11 rebounds. Hefei's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Marcus LoVett Jr (183-1996, college: St.John's, agency: Octagon Europe) with 28 points. Hefei have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 20-4 record behind leader HK JinNiu. Shanghai at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Hunan. Hefei will play against Jiangsu (#11) in Yannan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Shanghai will play on the road against Anhui W. (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
NBL top team - HK JinNiu (21-3) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked Zhangjiakou (0-24) in Hong Kong 112-63. It was a quality performance for Mason Jones who led the winners and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Yutian Li came up with 19 points and 5 rebounds for Zhangjiakou in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for HK JinNiu. They maintain first place with 21-3 record. Zhangjiakou lost their twenty fourth game in a row. They still close the standings. HK JinNiu will meet Hebei (#5) on the road in the next round. Zhangjiakou will play against Hubei (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 27: Guizhou was beaten by Anhui W. on the road 94-84. Jiaozuo won against Hubei on its own court 88-82. Jiangsu unfortunately lost to Shandong in a road game 99-106.
The most impressive performance of 27th round was 21 points by EJ Anosike of HK JinNiu.




Hebei - Jiangxi 120-119

The most exciting game of round 27 in the NBL took place in Hebei. An interesting game for Hefei (20-4) which hosted in Hefei 3rd placed Shanghai (14-10). Second ranked Hefei managed to get a 8-point victory 84-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shanghai. Greek forward Dimitrios Agravanis (208-1994, agency: Diamond Sports) helped adding 12 points and 11 rebounds. Anhui W. - Guizhou 94-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked Anhui W.'s (11-13) home victory over 12th ranked Guizhou (8-16) 94-84 on Monday. Anhui W. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American center Noah Dickerson (207-1997, college: Washington) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 24 rebounds. His fellow American import Matt Mobley (194-1994, college: St.Bonaventure) accounted for 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. American power forward Sterling Manley (213-1998, college: UNC) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks and American-Puerto Rican Kyle Vinales (188-1992, college: CCSU) added 13 points and 9 assists respectively for Guizhou in the defeat. Four Anhui W. and five Guizhou players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Anhui W. moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Jiangsu and Hangzhou. Loser Guizhou keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Hubei. Anhui W. will meet at home higher ranked Shanghai (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guizhou will play against Hangzhou (#9) and hope to secure a win.

Jiaozuo - Hubei 88-82

Rather expected game when 12th ranked Hubei (8-16) lost on the road to ninth ranked Jiaozuo (12-12) 88-82 on Tuesday. Jiaozuo made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Czech Tomas Kyzlink (198-1993) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Bofan Feng (190-2003) accounted for 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American center Baylee Steele (213-1997, college: Duquesne, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import point guard Keifer Sykes (183-1993, college: Green Bay) added 26 points and 5 assists respectively for Hubei in the defeat. Jiaozuo moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Jiangxi. Hubei lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Guizhou. Jiaozuo will meet at home higher ranked Shandong (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hubei will play against Zhangjiakou (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Shandong (13-11) won against at home 8th ranked Jiangsu (11-13) 106-99 on Tuesday. Shandong outrebounded Jiangsu 36-25 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Loren Jackson (170-1996, college: Akron) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 assists. Center Michael Holyfield (211-1992, college: SHSU) accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Shandong players scored in double figures. Shandong's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. point guard Quade Green (183-1998, college: Washington) came up with 42 points (!!!) (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and center Henry Sims (208-1990, college: Georgetown) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Jiangsu in the defeat. Shandong moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hebei. Jiangsu lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Anhui W. and Hangzhou. Shandong will meet Jiaozuo (#7) on the road in the next round. Jiangsu will play against the league's second-placed Hefei and hope to secure a win.
