The Regular Season in WCBA just ended. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
The most interesting game of round 22 was a home defeat of 4th ranked Xiamen (12-8) by second ranked Henan (13-7) who outscored them by 20 points 85-65. It ended the three-game winning streak of Xiamen. Henan Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Xiamen's 30. They outrebounded Xiamen 42-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. American point guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough (175-1996, college: Maryland) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Imani McGee-Stafford (201-1994, college: Texas) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Taiwanese Peng Shiqing (174-1991) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Henan maintains second position with 13-7 record having seven points less than leader Hefei, which they share with Liaoning. Xiamen at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost.
Very significant was Xinjiang's (#6) just 3-point road victory against 5th ranked Shanghai. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Swordfish. The former international forward Xuemeng Wang (185-1993) notched a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Wu Tongtong supported her with 18 points and 9 assists. Even a double-double of 43 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals by American point guard Chennedy Carter (175-1998, college: Texas A&M) did not help to save the game for Swordfish. Xinjiang (14-8) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Shandong. Shanghai at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost.
Ninth-ranked Power (7-15) gave a tough game to first ranked Flame (18-4) in Hengshui on Sunday. The visitors from Taiyuan managed to secure only three-point victory 97-94. However their fans expected much easier game. Kalani Brown fired 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Kayla Davis produced 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for lost side. Power's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Flame have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Shanxi maintains first position with 18-4 record. Loser Power keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost.
There were no shocking results in the other games in round 22: Beijing won against Jiangsu on the opponent's court 83-78. Shaanxi lost to defending champion Guangdong in a home game 70-104. Shandong recorded a loss to Sichuan on the road 72-76. Wuhan defeated Zhejiang on its own court 80-70. Liaoning beat Fujian Z. in Anshan 100-82. Hefei destroyed Ganzhou at home 95-62.
Jiangsu - Beijing 78-83There was a minor upset in Nanjing where 7th ranked
