The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An interesting game for Flame (14-4) which hosted in Taiyuan one of their biggest challengers Yuanda (12-5). Second ranked Flame managed to get a 9-point victory 91-82. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Yuanda. Shanxi forced 22 Sichuan turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American center Queen Egbo (193-2000, college: Baylor) who led her team to a victory with 29 points. Australian guard Marena Whittle (180-1994, college: NDSU, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 21 points and 7 assists for the winners. Australian center Elizabeth Cambage (205-1991) replied with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for Sichuan. Yuanda's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Flame have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Shanxi maintains second position with 14-4 record behind leader Hefei. Sichuan at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Shanxi are looking forward to face Beijing (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sichuan will play against Hebei (#9) in Hengshui and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
An interesting game for Hefei (15-2) which played road game in Anshan against second-best Liaoning Hengye (11-6). First ranked Hefei had an easy win 123-80. American players dominated the game. Guard Jaime Nared (188-1995, college: Tennessee) scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Diamond Johnson chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Tea Cooper (173-1997, college: Baylor) with 26 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hefei have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 15-2 record. Liaoning lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with six games lost. They share the position with Henan. Hefei will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Liaoning will play again at home against the league's leader Hefei and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
WCBA top team - Vermilion Birds (15-3) added another victory to their record on Tuesday. This time they beat tenth ranked Beijing Great Wall (5-13) in Dongguan 78-70. Aliyah Collier notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the effort. Vermilion Birds' coach Zheng Wei used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 20 points by Tiffany Mitchell did not help to save the game for Beijing. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-3 record. Loser Beijing Great Wall keeps the tenth place with 13 games lost. Guangdong will meet Xinjiang (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Beijing will play against the league's second-placed Shanxi and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18: Jiangsu was smashed by Shanghai on the road 94-67. Hebei destroyed Zhejiang on its own court 88-69. Xiamen outscored Ganzhou in a road game 93-74. Henan rolled over Fujian Z. at home 96-63. Shaanxi was crushed by Shandong on the opponent's court 103-77. Shanghai - Jiangsu 94-67

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Swordfish (10-7) crushed 5th ranked Jiangsu (11-7) in Shanghai 94-67 on Monday. Shanghai made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Jiangsu turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shanghai made 7 blocks. American point guard Chennedy Carter (175-1998, college: Texas A&M) notched 36 points (!!!), 9 assists and 7 steals to lead the effort and the other American import forward Ruthy Hebard (192-1998, college: Oregon) supported her with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by American center Jillian Alleyne (190-1994, college: Oregon) did not help to save the game for Jiangsu. Center Xu Chenyan (200-1999) added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
