Second defeat of league's leader Guangsha Lions (9-2) against fifth ranked Sharks (9-2) 99-77 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Guangsha Lions. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Shanghai dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Guangsha Lions's 56. Shanghai outrebounded Guangsha L. 42-26 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shanghai looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American forward Kenneth Lofton Jr (201-2002, college: La Tech) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward JaKarr Sampson (206-1993, college: St.John's) replied with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for Guangsha L.The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sharks have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Shanghai keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Guangdong ST and Guangsha L. Guangsha L. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Shanghai will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Qingdao E. on the road.
Leading Guandong Tigers (9-2) recorded its second loss in Dongguan. Hosts were edged by twelfth ranked Golden Bulls (5-6) 88-87. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Dakari Johnson (213-1995, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Zeyi Liu who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Trevelin Queen (197-1997, college: NM State) with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Guandong Tigers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zhejiang GB. maintains twelfth position with 5-6 record. Guangdong ST at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with Shanghai and Guangsha L.. Zhejiang GB. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Guangdong ST will play at home against Shenzhen L. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Tianjin between Loong Lions and Pioneers. Eighth ranked Loong Lions (5-4) got a very close victory on the road over 19th ranked Pioneers (1-9). Loong Lions managed to escape with a 2-point win 108-106 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The winners were led by Lindell Wigginton who scored that evening 26 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Even 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by Benson Lin did not help to save the game for Tianjin P.. Pioneers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Guangzhou maintains eighth position with 5-4 record, which they share with Shandong H. Tianjin P. lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighteenth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Jiangsu D.. Guangzhou will meet at home Xinjiang (#14) in the next round where they are favorite. Tianjin P. will play against Beijing (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 12: Xinjiang beat Fujian S. on the road 111-108. Liaoning won against Jilin NE T. on its own court 86-72. Shandong H. managed to outperform Nanjing in Jinan 107-94. Shanxi L. managed to beat Jiangsu D. at home 91-77. Shenzhen L. defeated Qingdao E. on the opponent's court 92-83.



Fujian S. - Xinjiang FT 108-111

There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Flying Tigers (4-6) edged higher ranked Sturgeons (4-6) in Jinjiang 111-108 on Sunday. Xinjiang looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The winners were led by Zach Nutall who scored that evening 18 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and Dedric Lawson supported him with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 41 points (!!!) and 12 assists (went 14 for 14 at the free throw line !!!) by American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) did not help to save the game for Fujian S.. Zeng Lingxuan added 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Xinjiang and four Fujian S. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Xinjiang moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Fujian S.. Xinjiang will meet higher ranked Guangzhou (#8) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Fujian S. will play against Shandong H. (#9) and hope to secure a win.

Everything could happen in Yingkou at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Flying Leopards and 14th ranked Jilin Tigers had identical 4-5 record. This time Flying Leopards used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Changchun 86-72 on Sunday night. Liaoning dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Jilin Tigers's 48. Liaoning outrebounded Jilin NE T. 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass.
