This is still too early stage of the Regular Season in CBA and we should expect many changes in upcoming rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Eagles (3-1) in Dongguan on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Guandong Tigers (5-0) 89-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Eagles. Guangdong ST outrebounded Qingdao E. 41-25 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Guangdong ST especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Trevelin Queen (197-1997, college: NM State) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Quinndary Weatherspoon (190-1996, college: MSU) answered with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for Qingdao E.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Guangdong ST keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Beijing D. Qingdao E. at the other side dropped to the sixth place with one game lost. Guangdong ST is looking forward to face Guangzhou (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao E. will play against Xinjiang in Urumqi and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
CBA top team - Ducks (5-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed nineteenth ranked Blue Whales (0-5) in Sichuan 97-46. American-Lebanese Omari Spellman (206-1997, college: Villanova) stepped up and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Mangok Mathiang chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Trevelin Queen (197-1997, college: NM State) responded with 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ducks. Beijing D. maintains first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Guangdong ST. Sichuan lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Tianjin P.. Beijing D. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sichuan will play on the road against Shenzhen L. (#15) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to sixth ranked Loongs (4-1) 99-92 on Sunday evening. Jaylen Nowell nailed 24 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Scottie James Jr came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for Tianjin P. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Loongs. Shanxi L. moved-up to third place, which they share with Liaoning and Guangsha L. Tianjin P. lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Sichuan. Shanxi L. will meet Nanjing (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tianjin P. will play against Jiangsu D. (#18) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 5: Guangzhou beat Jiangsu D. on the road 93-86. Guangsha L. won against Shanghai on its own court 97-90. Ningbo R. unfortunately lost to Jilin NE T. in Changchun 77-82. Liaoning managed to beat Beijing at home 98-86. Shenzhen L. defeated Shandong H. on the opponent's court 95-92.

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Loong Lions (2-2) beat 18th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (1-4) in Nanjing 93-86 on Sunday. Guangzhou looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Xu Xin nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Canadian guard Lindell Wigginton (185-1998, college: Iowa St.) accounted for 27 points and 6 assists. Loong Lions' coach Nate Mitchell used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Harry Giles III (208-1998, college: Duke) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and South Sudanese-Australian center Mangok Mathiang (208-1992, college: Louisville) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Jiangsu D. in the defeat. Four Jiangsu D. players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Guangzhou went down to ninth position due to points difference, which they share with Shandong H. and Xinjiang. Jiangsu D. lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the sixteenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Zhejiang GB. and Fujian S.. Guangzhou will meet league's second-placed Guangdong ST in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jiangsu D. will play against Tianjin P. (#20) and hope to win that game.

This time Guangsha Lions used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Shanghai 97-90 on Sunday night. American Barry Brown Jr (190-1996, college: Kansas St.) nailed 41 points (!!!) (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and Jinqiu Hu accounted for 18 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American-Qatari Brandon Goodwin (188-1995, college: FGCU) came up with 28 points (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and Guinean-American Hamidou Diallo (198-1998, college: Kentucky) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Shanghai in the defeat. Guangsha L. will meet at home Fujian S. (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Shanghai will play against Zhejiang GB. (#17) and hope to secure a win.
