Round 3 most important game was a victory of Shandong over Jiangsu 78-76 on Sunday night. Strangely Jiangsu outrebounded Sports Lottery 35-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for who led her team to a victory with 27 points. American point guard Lindsay Allen (173-1995, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. American center Jillian Alleyne (190-1994, college: Oregon) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for Jiangsu. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Shandong are looking forward to face Guangdong in Dongguan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jiangsu will play on the road against Wuhan (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Hefei (2-0) which played road game in Putian against Fujian Nanan (0-2). Hefei had an easy win 86-45. It was a great evening for American guard Jaime Nared (188-1995, college: Tennessee) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. Phillipina Kyei helped adding 14 points and 9 rebounds. Hefei's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Hefei will play against Henan in Jiyuan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fujian Nanan will play at home against Xiamen and hopes to get finally their first victory.
An interesting game for Yuanda (3-0) which played road game in Shanghai against Swordfish (1-2). Yuanda managed to get a 4-point victory 81-77. It was an exceptional evening for Zhou Xiyu who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Ruthy Hebard came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds for Shanghai in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Yuanda will meet at home Zhejiang (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Swordfish will play against Beijing (#8) and hope to win that game.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Henan smashed Ganzhou on the road 100-61. Wuhan won against Hebei on its own court 84-80. Zhejiang lost to undefeated Guangdong in Dongguan 68-87. Beijing rolled over Shaanxi at home 88-69. Winless Ganzhou lost to undefeated Liaoning on the opponent's court 59-111. Shanxi smashed Xinjiang in a home game 80-48.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 19 points and 6 assists by Yuting Lin of Shanxi.
Fujian Z. - Hefei 45-86An interesting game for
