The game between second ranked Hunan (9-6) and fifth ranked Hebei (8-7) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Hunan was crushed by Hebei in Hebei 87-112. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hunan. Hebei made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hunan 49-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. Hebei shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Trevor Thompson (210-1994, college: Ohio St., agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Refukati Jiang (204-1998) contributed with 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Dakari Johnson (213-1995, college: Kentucky) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds for Hunan. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hebei moved-up to fourth place. Hunan at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Hefei. Hebei are looking forward to face higher ranked Hefei (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hunan will play against Jiangsu YS in Yannan and is hoping to win this game.
NBL top team - HK JinNiu (14-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Hubei (1-14) 102-75. American power forward Josh Carlton (209-1999, college: Houston) stepped up and scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Kevin Cross chipped in 24 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side Serbian center Dejan Bjelic (209-1990, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. HK JinNiu have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record. Hubei lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. HK JinNiu will play against Jiangxi (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Hubei will play against Guangxi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
