Shanghai Sharks (CBA) signed 22-year old American 201cm forward
Kenneth Lofton Jr. (college:
La Tech) for the upcoming season. It marks his return to the Sharks, where he previously played. Lofton was the top scorer for the
Boston Celtics in the NBA Summer League, averaging 10.8ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.0apg, and 1.0spg last season. During his time with the Sharks, he played 37 games in the Chinese CBA, putting up impressive stats: 24.4ppg, 12.2rpg, 6.5apg, and 1.6spg, helping the team win the cup. Lofton was recognized with several awards, including Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese League Import Player of the Year, Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese League Player of the Year, and Forward of the Year. He also had a brief stint with
the Bulls in the NBA.
He is a very experienced player. Lofton has played professionally in other USA teams, NBA (Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, and Memphis Grizzlies), NBA G League (SLC Stars, Delaware Blue Coats, and Memphis Hustle), and NBA Summer League (Utah Jazz).
He won the NBA Southwest Division championship title in 2023. He received the District Offensive Player of the Year award back in 2020 at high school.
Lofton attended Louisiana Tech University until 2022 and it'll be his fourth season in pro basketball.
