The MVP award goes definitely to Quincy Douby who lead Xinjiang to win regular reason. His teammate James Singleton was selected the top forward. Douby was the best guard. He was joined at that position in the 1st team by Marbury Stephon from 11-th ranked Foshan. Forward Charles Gaines of 15-th ranked Qingdao DS had amazing season (best scorer and #5 in both rebounds and steals) as he was selected to to join 1st team. The center position belongs goes Jackson Vroman (22.6ppg, 10.6rpg and 1.6bpg) of co-runner-up DongGuan It's very typical for Chinese league that the top players are usually imports. The only young player among starters on either team is LI Xiaoxu, listed as born in 1990, starting for the North. But there are several young players among the reserves -- Su Wei (1989) and Ding Jinhui (1990) for the South and Zhong Cheng (1989) and Yu Shulong (1990) for the North. There is also a rookie game. I do not know the criteria for rookies but Sun Weibo of the North played 29 games in 2009-10 and often started. Southern Rookies: Gu QuAn (203-F-92) of DongGuan New Century Leopards He ZhongMian (198-F-91) of DongGuan New Century Leopards Ren JunFei (203-C-90) of Guandong Southern Tigers Li Yuanyu (206-C) of Guandong Southern Tigers Wang Junjie (205-F-90) of Jiangsu Nangang Dragons Nanjing Zhang Zhuojun (204-C-91) of Zhejiang Wanma Cyclones Ji Xiang (208-F-89) of Shanghai Dongfang Sharks Zhang Chengyu (193-F-89) of Bayi Fubang Jin Jiming (185-G-89) of Foshan Zhao Dapeng of Zhejiang Guangsha Lions Northern Rookies Tao HanLin (206-C-91) of Shandong Flaming Bulls Lee Ang (208-C-90) of Jilin Northeast Tigers Yu Changdong (206-C-91) of Shanxi Zhongyu Guo Ailun (193-G-93) of Liaoning Panpan Hunters Zhang Zhihan (199-F/G-91) of TianJin Rongcheng Shentu Chun (187-G-90) of TianJin Rongcheng Han Chongkai (206-C-90) of Shougang Beijing Ducks Chen Shidong (185-G-89) of Shougang Beijing Ducks Sun WeiBo (192-G-89) of Xinjiang Gyang Hui Flying Tigers Lian Ming One question about the rookies is why Ji Xiang of Shanghai was selected for the team and not 7-3 Zhang Zhaoxu. Both played in the NCAA last year and Zhang had a much better season this year. The only thing I can think of is that maybe Zhang went back to the United States. Though he is listed as born in 1987 he would be eligible for the NBA draft this year since he played as an NCAA sophomore, at California, last year. Like Han Dejun he has substantial upside. Also like Han he is a late bloomer. When I first heard of him at the Adidas Camp in 2005 he was 213 cm and now he's 220 cm. But he is thin and fragile and that likely argues against an NBA career. Hasheem Thabeet has trouble making it and Zhang has the same sort of problems, only moreso. Three-point Shooting Contest Zhang QingPeng of Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers Marbury Stephon of Foshan Douby Quincy of Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers Sun Jie of Shandong Kingston Zhang Bo of Bayi Rockets Lee Hsueh-Lin of Beijing Capital Steel Ducks These are the players the Chinese believe are their best shooters. Skills Challenge Lin Chih-Chieh of Zhejiang Guangsha Lions Xie LiBin of Beijing Capital Steel Ducks Yu Shulong of Jilin Longrun Tea Guo Ailun of Liaoning Panpan Hunters These are whom the Chinese think are their best all-round players. Dunking Contest Wu Nan of Jiangsu Nangang Dragons Zhang XueWen of Shanxi Fenjiu Zhao TaiLong of Fujian SBS Xunxin Zhang Ji of Tianjin Ronggang Wu Ke of Shandong Kingston Singleton James of Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers These are the players who are their best dunkers. |
