Regular Season Round 8: Nagasaki - Chiba Jets 50-82

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-ranked Nagasaki's (5-3) home loss to first ranked Jets (7-1) 50-82 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chiba Jets made 8 blocks. The winners were led by American forward John Mooney (206-1998, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored that evening 18 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward DJ Hogg (203-1996, college: Texas A&M) supported him with 18 points and 4 blocks. Four Jets players scored in double figures. Even 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by American Mark Smith (193-1999, college: Kansas St.) did not help to save the game for Nagasaki. International Yudai Baba (196-1995) added 13 points for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Jets have a solid four-game winning streak. Chiba Jets maintains first position with 7-1 record, which they share with Alvark Tokyo and Shimane SM. Loser Nagasaki keeps the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Osaka E. and Ryukyu. Chiba Jets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nagasaki will play against the league's leader Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
