Regular Season Round 8: Hotshots - Blackwater 81-77

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Blackwater's (3-5) road loss to eighth ranked Hotshots (4-2) 77-81. Hotshots made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Hotshots outrebounded Blackwater 45-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Blackwater was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by point guard Andy Barroca (176-1988) who scored that evening 19 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized American forward Calvin Abueva (190-1988) supported him with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Even 20 points and 6 assists by forward Jeth Troy Rosario (201-1992) did not help to save the game for Blackwater. Naturalized Canadian forward James Kwekuteye (191-1998) added 23 points and 4 assists for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Hotshots have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Blackwater lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Hotshots will play against higher ranked Rain or Shine (#4) in Manila in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Blackwater will have a break next round.
