Regular Season Round 33: Kumamoto V. - Shizuoka 108-101

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Shizuoka (19-25) lost to third ranked Volters (29-15) in Kumamoto 101-108 on Saturday. Kumamoto V. made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American center Jamel McLean (203-1988, college: Xavier) nailed 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Terrance Woodbury (203-1987, college: Georgia) accounted for 31 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Volters players scored in double figures. American forward John Harrar (205-1999, college: Penn St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Liberian-American guard Thomas Bropleh (196-1991, college: Boise St.) added 31 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Shizuoka in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kumamoto V. maintains third place with 29-15 record having just three points less than leader Chiba. Newly promoted Shizuoka dropped to the fourth position with 25 games lost. They share it with Nishinomiya S.. Kumamoto V. will again meet at home Shizuoka (#5) in the next round. Shizuoka will have a break next round.
