There was no surprise when 7th rankedOrange Vikings (14-28) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Shizuoka (18-24) 87-79 on Saturday. Shizuoka made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Liberian-American guard Thomas Bropleh (196-1991, college: Boise St.) fired 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Takumi Furuno (178-1993) produced 18 points and American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198-1990, college: LBSU) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Shizuoka maintains fifth place with 18-24 record. Loser Orange Vikings keeps the seventh position with 28 games lost.
