Regular Season Round 29: Yamagata - Shiga L-Stars 76-92

Everything went according to plan in Yamagata where first ranked Lakestars (28-12) won against 4th placed Wyverns (20-20) 92-76 on Saturday. Shiga L-Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Wyverns's 28. Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Yamagata 41-19 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shiga L-Stars looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American forward Justin Burrell (204-1988, college: St.John's) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds. Lakestars' coach used entire bench saving starting five for next games. American James Bell (196-1992, college: Villanova, agency: Slash Sports) responded with 17 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and point guard Shinya Murakami (173-1991) scored 13 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lakestars. Shiga L-Stars maintains first place with 28-12 record. Yamagata lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with 20 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Yamagata will play against the league's leader Shiga L-Stars (#1) and hope to secure a win.
