Regular Season Round 40: Tochigi Brex - Nagasaki 97-76

Rather predictable result when second ranked Tochigi Brex (32-7) rolled over at home 6th ranked Nagasaki (16-23) 97-76 on Sunday. Tochigi Brex forced 19 Nagasaki turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn St.) who scored that evening 19 points and 6 assists and the other American import center Grant Jerrett (208-1993, college: Arizona) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) did not help to save the game for Nagasaki. International Yudai Baba (196-1995) added 11 points and 4 assists for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tochigi Brex have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Alvark Tokyo. Newly promoted Nagasaki keeps the sixth place with 23 games lost. Tochigi Brex will meet at home Sunrockers Sh. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Nagasaki will play against Gunma CT and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
