Regular Season Round 35: Kanazawa - Tokyo HT 71-87

Date: February 10, 2024
Everything went according to plan in Ishikawa where tenth ranked Hachioji Trains (17-18) beat bottom-ranked Kanazawa (4-23) 87-71 on Saturday. Tokyo outrebounded Kanazawa 36-24 including 31 on the defensive glass. Tokyo looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Spanish center David Doblas (208-1981) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Nigerian power forward Martins Igbanu (203-1997, college: Tulsa) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Takuto Kubo (186-1999) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and Ukrainian point guard Igor Boyarkin (182-1995, agency: BIG) added 7 points and 10 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hachioji Trains. Tokyo moved-up to ninth place. Kanazawa lost their seventh game in a row. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Tokyo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kanazawa will play against Tokyo (#9) and hope to secure a win.
