Regular Season Round 26: Chiba - Shiga L-Stars 116-80

The biggest surprise took place in Chiba where host Chiba (34-3) crushed league's leader Lakestars (25-12) 116-80 on Sunday evening. Chiba shot 64.6 percent from the field and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Chiba forced 21 Shiga L-Stars turnovers and outrebounded them 32-19 including a 22-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Shiga L-Stars' players. The best player for the winners was American Brandon Ashley (206-1994, college: Arizona) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import center Dererk Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Filipino guard Kiefer Ravena (183-1993) produced 18 points and 8 assists and Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Five Chiba and four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Newly promoted Chiba maintains first position with 34-3 record. Shiga L-Stars lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the second place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Fukuoka R.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Chiba. Shiga L-Stars will play next round against Shizuoka trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Chiba will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Yamagata at home.
