Regular Season Round 25: Shizuoka - Kumamoto V. 80-72

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Volters (25-11) against fifth ranked Shizuoka (16-20) on Saturday night. Visiting Volters were defeated by Shizuoka in a tough game in Shizuoka 72-80. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Volters. Shizuoka dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Volters's 30. Shizuoka looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Liberian-American guard Thomas Bropleh (196-1991, college: Boise St.) fired 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Shizuoka players scored in double figures. American center Jamel McLean (203-1988, college: Xavier) produced 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Aaron White (206-1992, college: Iowa) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Shizuoka maintains fifth place with 16-20 record. Loser Volters still keeps top position with 11 games lost. They share it with Shiga L-Stars. Shizuoka will meet at home league's second-placed Kumamoto V. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round.
