Regular Season Round 33: Gifu - Kanazawa 88-87

Date: February 3, 2024
There was no surprise in Gifu where 18th ranked Kanazawa (4-21) was edged by twelfth ranked Swoops (14-19) 88-87 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gifu looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Noah Dahlman (202-1989, college: Wofford) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and guard Hunter Cort (191-1999) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Swoops players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Chris Olivier (202-1992, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Senegalese forward Dou Gueye (206-1997, college: Louisiana) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Kanazawa's coach Huraya Ito tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gifu moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Tokyo Z. Kanazawa lost their fifth game in a row. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Gifu will again meet at home bottom-ranked Kanazawa (#18) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kanazawa will have a break next round.
