Regular Season Round 24: Chiba - Shizuoka 90-56

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Chiba (32-3) crushed at home 5th ranked Shizuoka (15-20) 90-56 on Wednesday. Chiba dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Shizuoka's 34. They outrebounded Shizuoka 42-25 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The winners were led by American Brandon Ashley (206-1994, college: Arizona) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Kotetsu Kurokawa (175-2001) supported him with 16 points and 5 assists. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by American forward John Harrar (205-1999, college: Penn St.) did not help to save the game for Shizuoka. Liberian-American guard Thomas Bropleh (196-1991, college: Boise St.) added 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted Chiba maintains first position with 32-3 record. Shizuoka at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth place with 20 games lost. Chiba will meet at home league's leader Shiga L-Stars in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shizuoka will play against the league's second-placed Kumamoto V. (#2) and hope to secure a win.
