Regular Season Round 21: Niigata A. - Shiga L-Stars 92-81

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Lakestars (24-8) on the court of seventh ranked Niigata A. on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Niigata A. 92-81. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Lakestars. Niigata A. made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Strangely Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Niigata A. 33-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Shiga L-Stars helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Stacy Davis (198-1994, college: Pepperdine) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 9 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American-Jamaican power forward Kyle Hunt (208-1989, college: USAO, agency: BIG) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Niigata A. players scored in double figures. Australian forward Brock Motum (208-1990, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and American-German power forward Ryan Kriener (208-1998, college: Iowa, agency: Pensack Sports) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Niigata A. maintains seventh place with 5-27 record. Shiga L-Stars at the other side still keep top position with eight games lost. Niigata A. are looking forward to face Ehime (#7) in Matsuyama in the next round. Shiga L-Stars will play at home against Fukushima (#5) and are hoping to win this game.
