Regular Season Round 3: FiberXers - SM Beermen 96-105

Rather predictable result in Makati where SM Beermen (2-1) defeated FiberXers (0-4) 105-96 on Saturday. SM Beermen dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to FiberXers' 30 and made 30-of-35 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while FiberXers only scored twelve points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-1990, college: Murray St., agency: 011 Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Guard Jaymar Perez (188-1993) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was New Zealand forward Thomas Vodanovich (201-1994, college: JMU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds and guard Aljun Melecio (173-1998) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively. Four FiberXers players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. SM Beermen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manila Rain or Shine.
