Bottom-rankedBlue Whales (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 140-129 loss to eleventh ranked Sturgeons (4-3) in Sichuan. They made 19-of-20 charity shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Sturgeons outrebounded Blue Whales 37-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Sturgeons shot the lights out from three nailing 25 long-distance shots on high 56.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 10 assists. His fellow American import guard Joseph Young (188-1992, college: Oregon, agency: MSG) contributed with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. American point guard Trae Golden (189-1991, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Slash Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 13 assists and Zhennian Zuo (201-1996) added 25 points in the effort for Blue Whales. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sturgeons moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Blue Whales lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost.
