There was no surprise when 7th ranked Hokkaido L. (1-8) was edged on the road by fifth ranked Shimane SM (7-2) 94-91 on Sunday. Shimane SM made 30-of-32 free shots (93.8 percent) during the game. Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists (went 16 for 16 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and the former international guard Seiya Ando (181-1992) chipped in 29 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American DeMon Brooks (202-1992, college: Davidson) with 32 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import center Thomas Welsh (213-1996, college: UCLA, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Hokkaido L.'s coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Shimane SM moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Hokkaido L. lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Kyoto H.. Shimane SM will meet at home league's second-placed Kawasaki BT in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hokkaido L. will play against FE Nagoya (#3) and hope to win that game.
