No shocking result in a game when second ranked Yamagata (5-4) outleveled on the road 7th ranked Niigata A. (1-8) 92-63 on Saturday. Yamagata looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Niigata A.'s players. American James Bell (196-1992, college: Villanova, agency: Slash Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Michael Finke (208-1996, college: GCU, agency: Players Group) chipped in 18 points. Worth to mention Finke played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. American point guard Josh Newkirk (185-1994, college: Indiana) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Katsumi Takahashi (180-2000) added 15 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Yamagata went down to fourth position due to points difference. Niigata A. lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Iwate. Yamagata will meet Bambitious N. (#7) in the next round. Niigata A. will play against Fukushima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
