Regular Season Round 5: Haneda V. - Fujitsu RW 56-87
Date: October 28, 2023
Everything went according to plan in Tokyo where leader Fujitsu RW (6-0) outscored 10th ranked Haneda V. (1-5) 87-56 on Saturday. Fujitsu RW dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Haneda V.'s 18. Fujitsu RW had a 25-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fujitsu RW made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Yuki Miyazawa (183-1993, college: Queens, NY) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Swingman Uchio Akina (177-1997) chipped in 19 points. Four Fujitsu RW players scored in double figures. Center Miwa Kuribayashi (188-1998) produced 11 points and point guard Ayumi Chiba (167-1996) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Fujitsu RW. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Loser Haneda V. dropped to the twelfth position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
