A very close game took place in Matsuyama between Ehime OV and Kumamoto V.. Ehime OV (1-5) got a very close home victory over Kumamoto V. (3-3). Ehime OV managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 on Sunday evening. Ehime OV made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American-Filipino forward Eugene Phelps (198, college: LBSU) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Takumi Furuno (178-1993) accounted for 12 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Ehime OV players scored in double figures. Ehime OV's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Jamel McLean (203-1988, college: Xavier) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Terrance Woodbury (203-1987, college: Georgia) added 28 points respectively for Kumamoto V. in the defeat. Ehime OV will meet Aomori W. on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kumamoto V. will play against Iwate and hope to secure a win.
