Regular Season Round 6: Tokyo HT - Yokohama EX 87-81

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tokyo: Tokyo HT (#3) and Yokohama EX (#7). Tokyo HT (5-1) won against visiting Yokohama EX (3-3) 87-81. Tokyo HT shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Kodai Takahashi (180-1991) notched 21 points and 6 assists to lead the effort and Spanish center David Doblas (208-1981) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) by Latvian center Klavs Cavars (208-1996) did not help to save the game for Yokohama EX. American center Babatunde Olumuyiwa (203-1992, college: USC Upstate) added 16 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tokyo HT have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toyoda and Tachikawa. Loser Yokohama EX dropped to the tenth place with three games lost. They share the position with Gifu and Shinagawa. Tokyo HT will meet Fukui B. (#4) on the road in the next round. Yokohama EX will play against Kagawa FA (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
